Captain Charles Summers has a United States Coast Guard Captain's and Master's License with a towing endorsement. He also has a New York State Captain's License and a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit (RROP) and Marine Radio Operator Permit (MROP).

Captain Summers has over 25 years of boating experience on vessels ranging in size up to 200 feet on the Atlantic Ocean (near coastal), Long Island Sound, Lake George, Saratoga Lake, the Hudson and Mohawk Rivers and the Erie and Champlain Canals.

Certified New York State 8-Hour Safety Course instructor.
