Captain Steve Barrows hold a United States Coast Guard Captain's and Master's License and is a United States Navy veteran. He also has a New York State Captain's License

While in the Navy he served as a certified Firefighting Training Instructor and had several tours around the world aboard several U>S> Navy ships.

Captain Barrows is proficient in all marine ships systems including engine trouble shooting and repairs. He doubles as the chief engineer/mechanic on the "Wofford" and is familiar with all of her systems.

Captain Steve has participated in several boat transports from Troy, New York to southern Florida and the corresponding return trips via the Inter coastal Waterway (ICW) and the Atlantic Ocean. In addition he has several years experience on the Mohawk River, Erie Canal, Champlain Canal and the Hudson River.

He is also a certified New York State Safe Boating Instructor.
